As principal of workpod 9, my experiences teaching children and examining how they navigate through space has had a great influence on my design work. Because a child’s mind is constantly expanding and learning, children tend to interrupt the social fabric on many levels. They explore space with intuition and purpose that adults often suppress. When a child’s mind is challenged, the results can be extraordinary, because children do not fear making mistakes and think freely.
Our design process connects materials with environmental psychology, childhood memories, and the silence of our spirits to give form to new spaces. In this way, workpod 9 works to advance the understanding of physical space and our built environment.
