Workpod 9: collective imagination

Thailand Space
Bangkok And Ko Pha-Ngan 1999

During travels in Thailand I observed community life and how people live in concert with nature and each other. The wat, or Buddhist monastery, is the center of community life and encompasses places of worship, schools, and other community functions. They are vibrant, lively places rather than somber formal institutions and this unique system of spiritual and social living is reflected in the colors, textures, materials, details, and ornamentation of the built environment.
